Rasheda L. Weaver
Founder and Director
Rasheda L. Weaver is a doctoral candidate in the Public Affairs-Community Development program at Rutgers University in Camden. She graduated valedictorian from New York University’s (NYU) Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development with an Master of Arts in Applied Psychology in May 2013. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Herbert H. Lehman College where she graduated magna cum laude in 2011.
After leading poverty-centered civic engagement programs throughout the United States, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, Rasheda decided to create Dream Haven, a goal she has had since she was sixteen. Her vision is for Dream Haven to provide services that combat the effects of poverty on human and community development in Camden and beyond in effort to maximize the social, educational, and professional potential of its residents. As a current doctoral candidate, Rasheda conducts research on the strategies businesses (e.g. social enterprises, nonprofit organizations) utilize to advance human development of residents in distressed cities. She applies knowledge from her research to strengthen Dream Haven’s programs and services.
